Overview

In general, computer programming involves a programmer to write code to solve problems. It instructs the computer to do the tasks that you want and and shows it how to do them. A programmer is in charge of updating and running programs ensuring that the programs runs correctly and efficently. They are also in charge of troubleshooting and spending time to rewrite their code. Some of a programmers more complicated and involved projects may take years to complete.

The certifications required for becoming a computer programmer are varied. It is recommended to study for an IT degree, with some employers hiring with only a bachelor's degree. Computer science is unique in that you are not required to have any certifications at all, but earning them for specific langauges can help you in such a competitive field.

Job Outlook

Computer science continues to be one of the most rapidly changing job fields. In 2010, it was predicted to increase twelve percent from 2010. Programmers receive median pay of about $71,000.
